Its purpose is to monitor key aspects of the school in accordance with the Trust’s strategic plan; safeguarding of pupils & staff, local stakeholder engagement; admissions; exclusions; panels; community relations; standards. Become a Local Governor at Roselands School
Are you passionate about education and keen to make a positive contribution to our school community? As a local governor, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of the young people in our school. Our governors work alongside the Headteacher/s to ensure accountability in key areas of safeguarding and pupil outcomes and make key decisions that benefit our pupils and staff.
Our local governing board brings diverse skills and perspectives that strengthen the connection between our school and the wider community. It can also provide opportunities for you to develop your own skills and gain valuable experience that may support your professional life.
We welcome interest in our governor vacancies from all backgrounds, whether you’re a parent, professional, or community member, the most important thing is that you have passion and commitment to our school. Our Govenors

Denise Kong
Chair of Governors
Term of Office 1 September 2025-31 August 2029
Denise has been a school governor since 2010. She works in Information Technology and has a background in Mathematics. She is also a governor at West Rise Primary School, and at King’s Academy, Ringmer. Denise is Clerk to governors at Southover School, South Malling School and Downs Infant School. Denise is Chair of the East Sussex Governors’ Forum and is a local support governor for East Sussex County Council.

Kali Peacock
Parent Governor
Term of Office 2 November 2021-1 November 2025
Kali is an actress of over 20 + years experience across film, television, radio and theatre.
She is Artistic Director for a charitable theatre production company she established in 2018. UnderWired Productions specialise in writing and producing fun and silly inclusive family musicals. She has three children, her two younger daughters attend Roselands and Stafford and her eldest son (who is severely disabled with complex needs) attends Glyne Gap special needs school. The everyday challenges her family face drives her passion in wanting to champion these extraordinary children and to represent families like hers.

Joe Green
Governor
Term of Office 1 September 2025-31 August 2029
Joe has 15 years experience working within the Prison Service, giving her valuable skills which will contribute to helping the board of Governors and the wider community. Joe’s children have enjoyed the education experiences offered at both Roselands and Stafford, Joe says this has made her want to support the work and vision of the schools.

Christopher Hills

Chris has been a school governor since 2019. He is currently working as the Alternative Provision Teacher across primary schools in the Cavendish Education Trust. He has previously held positions as a SEND co-opted governor and staff governor at Willingdon Primary School, and is currently a parent governor at Ocklynge Junior School.

Mark Tomsett

Term of Office 7 October 2025 – 6 October 2029
Mark is a passionate advocate for education and student wellbeing. He serves as the Head of Pastoral Care and Designated Safeguarding Lead at an independent school in Eastbourne, where he plays a pivotal role in creating a safe and nurturing environment for pupils. Alongside his school leadership, Mark is a school inspector for the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI).

Nick is a local accountant specialising in personal and business tax planning. He was born in London and moved to Eastbourne 20 years ago when he started his accounting practice here. He has two young children, one of which is at Roselands , likes to scuba dive and avoiding diets.
